2 SC women killed on Thanksgiving, found in woods

AUGUSTA, Ga. (AP) — Police in Georgia say two young women from South Carolina were shot and killed on Thanksgiving and their bodies were discovered in a wooded area.

Authorities in Richmond County, which shares the state line with South Carolina, are searching for 26-year-old Travis Lorenzo Berrian, but emphasized he is not considered a suspect. They do think he might have information about the deaths.

The bodies of Angela Brooks and Nancy Cushman were found by a passer-by early Thursday. Authorities say the 19-year-old Brooks was from Warrenville, S.C., near the state line, and Cushman was 17 or 18 and also from the area.

The woman were last seen with a man around 12:30 a.m. Thursday. Cushman’s 1999 Cadillac Escalade was found about a mile and a half away from where they were killed.

15 killed during Somali insurgent attack

MOGADISHU, Somalia (AP) — Officials say an attack by Islamic militants against government soldiers in the Somali capital has left at least 15 people dead.

Residents of northern Mogadishu say the insurgents on Monday fired machine guns and rocket-propelled grenades in an attack on government and African Union peacekeepers’ bases in the area.

Ali Muse of Mogadishu’s ambulance service says his staff counted at least 15 dead and carried 20 wounded people to hospitals.

Col. Abdullahi Hassan Barise of the police force confirmed the attack. It happened a day after Somalia’s parliament passed a vote of confidence in the new prime minister.

The Somali government controls only a few blocks of Mogadishu. The country has not had a fully functioning government since 1991.

Phoenix police say killed while the duty officer

PHOENIX (AP) - Phoenix police say that an officer was fatally shot near from the city centre.

Sergeant Crump Trent, explains a police sergeant, was shot dead while in service between 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. Monday investigators soir.Les still worked the stage Tuesday at the beginning.

Crump, said Sgt. worked only at the time of the fusillade.Il says that the authorities release agent name and age until no later than Tuesday.
