Spot Reduction of Fat

The question today is it possible to achieve spot reduction of fat?? We all have some trouble area of our body we would like to change.? Most men put extra weight on their stomachs and women tend to gain the cellulite on their buttocks and thighs.? We all think wouldn’t it be nice to drop a few pounds and have it come off our bodies where we would like it to.

Can I Exercise My Weight Away?

With all the TV ads you are lead to believe that you can just buy the next ab cruncher and in 4 weeks you will have 6 pack abs.? I’m sorry to tell you this; but false advertising is not illegal when it comes to non FDA regulated products.? While it is true you could exercise your weight away; spot reduction of fat is a myth, a plain old lie.

Basic science has proven that weight comes and goes in a precise manner.? The first place you put on fat will be the last place it will leave.? So if you have had that belly for a while it will be the last place fat will leave when losing weight.? If you think about it almost everyone loses the chubby cheeks first; this is because that is where people tend to put the fat on last.

Everyday in my practice I am asked the question why?? I have to explain that medical science is not very good at why, but most of the time we can tell you how something happens.? That is the case with the spot reduction of fat.

So How Do I Lose That Unwanted Fat?

You have to burn fat and lose weight until you approach your ideal body weight.? So it is true you can eat properly and exercise your unwanted fat away.? It takes effort and that is where most people fail.? Change is contrary to are human nature and we fight it subconsciously and consciously.? It takes about eight weeks to develop a new habit and override our previous behavior with a new one.

So you have two choices; count your calories and get some exercise or follow a reputable diet program.? An explanation of counting calories for weight loss is beyond the scope of this article.? Diet programs come in many forms so beware.? Sometimes the best choice is the easiest and most economical one.? I believe that to be the case in this scenario.?
