The personal health problems of employees have an impact on business

The personal health problems of employees have an impact on business, according to a survey by the institute revealed Sociovision and December 2. 34% of workers over age 50 have difficulty seeing even with glasses, and 29% have difficulty hearing. 20% of employees have a chronic illness (28% of those over 50 years), which causes discomfort in labor for 77% of them.

45% of employees admit not being monitored regularly by a health professional, and 20% see a GP at least once a year.

31% of workers suffer from sleep disorders often or always. On absenteeism, an employee is arrested on average 1.5 times per year to 12 days of total absence in the year.

13% of employees are arrested for chronic disease, 2.9 times per year to 35 days of total absence in the year. 9% of employees are arrested for psychological problems, 2.7 times per year to 45 days of total absence in the year.

A majority of employees expect solutions to manage their health from the company. 63% of employees would be interested if their company offered them ways to manage stress or nervousness.

57% of employees are interested in services to better maintain their health provided by their company. 52% would be interested if their company offered their services to act against sleep disorders.

The survey was conducted for the company Malakoff Médéric specializing in mutual health. It was completed in May 2009 from a sample of 23,000 persons, representative of the population of the private sector.
